adella's new sweater, revisited.

okay, so it's not done.
here is how it looked last night:

and stig is there for moral support (he looks darn supportive, doesn't he?)

and that's pretty much how it still looks now.
i decided to frog it, as i knew i would have to. i re-knit the neckline on a bigger needle, and i frogged the arms and am re-knitting those as well, using fewer decreases and adding an inch or two to the length.

and that's where we stand, the sweater and i. we are not exactly on speaking terms right now - we both know that this will be for the best, but we resent each other all the same.
plus, i think sweater heard me say i might hate it.

so, anyway, i did make something I LIKE (that's right sweater, you heard me):

look! a cable!

Stig is indeed supporting the vast weight of the yarn on his lap. Yay cable! Aren't they easy once you do them?

FROGGING: (via knitty.com)

In Japan, the kajika goes kerokero. In Spain the rana sings cruá-cruá. A beka would say bre-ke-ke in Hungary. Here in Norway, frosker sier kvakk.

In the knitting world, however, frogs say "rip it, rip it." And that's the reason knitters use the term "frogging" as they merrily unravel their hours worth of knitting.
Okay, it's not always a particularly fun thing to do, but it can be incredibly liberating to admit that, well, this here just ain't working, while posessing the sure knowledge that you have the skill and talent to make something beautiful out of a monstrosity.

...which explains the piles of unraveled yarn where the arms used to be...
and as of today, the neck and left arm have been re-knit and i think it is working out.

i'll keep you posted.

Rip it! Rip it!

SO what is it called when you have to cut each galldern stitch of a 20x25 duplicate stitch pattern adn pull it out? I feel the need to invent a new word to describe it. Hell is already taken, though, huh?
